Two MHA officials arrested for seeking illegal gratification for FCRA registration

Two officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs were arrested on Monday following a tip-off from the union ministry itself regarding their involvement in seeking illegal gratification. The arrests came after the MHA received information about their unlawful conduct and initiated action against them.
The officials were accused of demanding bribes in connection with Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) registration approvals. Their actions constituted a serious violation of regulations governing the approval process for organizations seeking FCRA registration, which permits entities to receive foreign contributions.
The case highlights concerns about corruption within government agencies responsible for regulatory approvals. The MHA's swift action in reporting the matter and facilitating arrests demonstrates the ministry's commitment to addressing misconduct among its personnel.
