Two MHA officials arrested for seeking bribes for FCRA registration

Two officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs have been arrested on corruption charges related to Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) registrations. The officials were accused of demanding illicit payments to expedite pending applications. Following a credible tip-off, the Ministry confirmed their arrests.
In response to the incident, the MHA has shifted all FCRA registration processes to a digital platform to enhance transparency and minimize direct human involvement in the approval mechanism.
