Two women shot dead by suspected militants in Manipur's Tamenglong

Suspected armed militants shot dead two women from the Kuki community in Manipur's Tamenglong district on Tuesday. The victims, identified as 60-year-old Chonga Sitalhau and 30-year-old Kimboi Singson, were gathering firewood in a remote field in Leisangfai village when they were attacked. Their bodies were found in the field with bullet wounds.
Following the killings, armed attackers set several makeshift farm structures on fire in the area. This incident occurred two days after four people, including two women, were shot dead in Tamenglong and Noni districts on Sunday.
The latest violence adds to the toll of ongoing ethnic clashes between Meitei and Kuki communities in the state, which have claimed over 300 lives since May 2023.
