UGC social inclusion scheme stalled by bureaucracy, triggering salary crisis

A social inclusion scheme run by the University Grants Commission has become mired in bureaucratic delays, affecting prominent institutions offering two-year Master's and five-year PhD programmes. Universities including Banaras Hindu University, Jamia Millia Islamia, the University of Hyderabad, the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, and Panjab University are among those participating in the centre's initiative.
The administrative hold-up has created a salary crisis, leaving staff at these institutions facing payment difficulties. The scheme, designed to promote social inclusion in higher education, remains in limbo as procedural obstacles prevent its proper implementation and fund disbursement.
