Finance Ministry to engage banks, traders on Merchant Discount Rate concerns

The finance ministry will hold consultations with the Indian Banks Association and traders' organizations to address concerns over the recent Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) levy. The move aims to shield consumers from additional MDR charges. Effective from October 15, transactions exceeding ₹2,000 will attract the MDR charge.
