Cracks widen between Tamil Nadu CM Vijay's TVK and Left allies over Secretariat plan

Tensions are escalating between Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay's TVK government and its Left coalition partners. CPI(M) state secretary P Shanmugam has cautioned that the party may withdraw its outside support if the government persists in making major decisions without proper consultation.
The proposed construction of a new Secretariat at Pattinapakkam has become a flashpoint. The CPI(M) has opposed the proposed site and demanded an all-party discussion before proceeding. The friction emerges ahead of October 6 bypolls in Madurantakam and Dharapuram, where the CPI and CPI(M) plan to contest independently rather than align with the TVK-led alliance.
