Pinarayi Vijayan seeks withdrawal of order on full Vande Mataram singing on August 15

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has demanded withdrawal of an order mandating the full version of Vande Mataram to be sung on Independence Day. Speaking to reporters, Vijayan alleged that the complete rendition of the national song does not align with secularism, referencing historical Congress and Nehru policies on the matter.
The demand reflects a longstanding debate over the composition and its implementation in public institutions, with Vijayan positioning the state's stance as consistent with secular governance principles.
