VVS Laxman attends BCCI selection meeting as liaison between selectors and Centre of Excellence

The BCCI held a selection meeting in Guwahati to pick India's squads for the New Zealand tour. Pragyan Ojha chaired the meeting on an interim basis following outgoing chief selector Ajit Agarkar's absence, prompting questions about the selection committee's transition.
VVS Laxman, head of BCCI's Centre of Excellence, attended the meeting, drawing attention to his role. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia clarified that Laxman's presence was decided at a review meeting in Mumbai to ensure effective communication between selectors and the CoE, and he will now attend all senior selection committee meetings going forward.
Laxman's involvement has fuelled speculation about a potential role change, with reports linking him to succeed Agarkar as chief selector, though the BCCI has invited applications for the position.
