West Bengal bypolls in Nandigram, Rejinagar lack competitive spirit

Bypolls scheduled for October 6 in West Bengal's Nandigram and Rejinagar Assembly constituencies are unfolding as largely uncontested elections. The electoral exercise appears to lack the typical vigour of competitive polling, with reports of minimal on-ground activity.
Candidates from non-BJP parties are allegedly facing dropouts and intimidation, dampening the competitive nature of the contests. The bypolls, which should normally witness active campaigning and voter engagement, seem subdued.
