West Bengal professors oppose government's inter-university transfer Bill

The West Bengal College and University Teachers' Association (WBCUTA) has opposed the state government's proposed inter-university transfer Bill, calling it an attack on education. The union argues that arbitrary transfers of faculty will further weaken universities already struggling with severe staffing shortages.
WBCUTA plans to escalate the matter by writing to the Governor, who also serves as Chancellor of Universities, and will lodge a formal appeal against the Bill. The teachers' body contends that the proposed legislation poses a significant threat to the stability and functioning of higher education institutions in the state.
