Bengal CID detains Abhishek Banerjee's personal assistant in Salboni land scam case

The Bengal CID apprehended Sumit Roy, personal assistant to TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee, on Thursday following the Supreme Court's rejection of his anticipatory bail plea. The rejection also lifted previous protection against his arrest in connection with the Salboni land scam case.

Roy's bail application had earlier been dismissed by the Calcutta High Court. Investigations centre on alleged irregularities in government land transactions and discrepancies in TMC account deposits linked to the case.
