Women's farm workforce share rises to 77%, but land ownership remains low at 11.72%

Nearly 77% of rural working women in India are now engaged in agricultural work, reflecting their significant contribution to the farm sector. However, this participation has not translated into proportional land access or ownership.
Women currently operate just 11.72% of the farmed area across the country, indicating a substantial gap between workforce participation and land control. The disparity highlights ongoing challenges in ensuring equal property rights and resource access for women in agriculture.
