Yogi accuses Chief Justice of sowing instability under guise of reform; Opposition protests

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has levelled criticism at the Chief Justice of India, alleging that reforms are being pursued in a manner that risks creating instability in the system. Adityanath's remarks, framed as cautionary, drew swift pushback from opposition parties who viewed the comments as an attack on judicial independence.
The Chief Minister's statement characterised certain institutional changes as potentially destabilising, a position that has intensified political divisions on the matter. Opposition leaders have protested against what they describe as an attempt to undermine the judiciary and its autonomy.
The exchange underscores ongoing tensions between the executive and judicial branches over the scope and pace of reforms within the Indian legal system. Both sides have mobilised their positions, with the ruling dispensation expressing concerns about institutional stability and the opposition defending judicial authority and reform initiatives.
