AAP suspends MLA for publicly criticising teacher shortage in Punjab schools

The Aam Aadmi Party has suspended its Maur constituency MLA Sukhveer Singh Maiserkhana from primary membership after he publicly highlighted the shortage of teachers in Punjab's government schools. In a Facebook live on October 3, the MLA expressed frustration over repeated complaints to the government and party leadership that went unaddressed, including at the School of Eminence where his children study.
Maiserkhana claimed he had repeatedly demanded the filling of vacant teacher posts but received no action. He also challenged the AAP government's claims about education improvements, stating ground reality differed from official narratives. The MLA alleged that among ruling party MLAs, he was alone in having children in government schools.
The party's suspension of its own legislator for raising education concerns has drawn criticism, with observers questioning whether legitimate grievances about school conditions constitute "anti-party activities."
