Air pollution exposure linked to increased suicidal ideation risk, study finds

A review of available evidence has linked exposure to air pollutants with an increased risk of suicidal thoughts and suicide deaths. The study examined the relationship between particulate matter pollution—including PM2.5 and PM10—and mental health outcomes.
The research suggests that prolonged exposure to poor air quality may contribute to psychological distress and suicidal ideation. The findings add to growing concerns about the public health impacts of air pollution across India and other regions.
