AJUP chief Humayun Kabir hints at resignation from MLA post

Humayun Kabir, chief of the Aam Janta Unnayan Party (AJUP), has signalled an early exit from electoral politics. He stated that if 6,000 out of 10,000 people support his decision, he will resign from his MLA membership and vacate his seat in the Bengal assembly.
The remarks came a day after Kabir's arrest following a confrontation with police during voting in Rejinagar. Speaking emotionally to the media, he questioned the treatment he received and claimed no election rules were violated. He also predicted that the BJP would win the Muslim-majority seat in Murshidabad district.
