Andhra Pradesh Restores BC Quota to 34% in Local Bodies

Andhra Pradesh has restored the quota for Backward Classes (BC) to 34% in local body elections, a move hailed by government ministers as historic. BC welfare minister S Savitha said Tuesday would be remembered as an unforgettable day for the BC community, as the coalition government fulfilled another electoral commitment.
The restoration of the higher quota level marks a significant reversal of previous policies affecting reservations in the state's municipal and local governance bodies.
