Consumer body launches probe into Apple over iPhone issues and costly repairs after iOS 18 update

India's consumer protection authority has begun a detailed investigation into complaints against Apple concerning iPhone performance issues and expensive repairs allegedly triggered by the iOS 18 update. The regulator had previously requested an explanation from the company nearly a year ago.
The probe centres on allegations that the software update caused widespread problems with iPhones, leading to substantial out-of-warranty repair costs for consumers. The investigation marks an escalation in regulatory scrutiny of the technology giant's practices in the Indian market.
