Australia Investigates Alleged Online Death Threat Against PM Modi Ahead Of Melbourne Visit

Australian authorities have launched an investigation into an alleged online death threat targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of his official visit to the country later this week. The threat reportedly surfaced in the comments section of a Facebook post promoting the "Melbourne Meets Modi" community event scheduled to take place at Melbourne's Marvel Stadium.
According to reports, the threatening message was posted from a Facebook account identified as "Abu Mustafa." The comment allegedly warned that Prime Minister Modi "would be coming to Australia for his death," prompting Australian security agencies to begin an immediate probe into the matter.
Investigators have reportedly traced the IP address linked to the account as part of efforts to identify the individual behind the post. Authorities are examining the origin of the message and whether it poses a genuine security risk.
The Australian Federal Police (AFP) has not confirmed any arrests or disclosed operational details, stating that the investigation remains ongoing. Officials, however, are treating the matter with utmost seriousness, with multiple security agencies working together to assess the threat and strengthen security arrangements for the Prime Minister's visit.
Prime Minister Modi is expected to travel to Australia for a three-day visit, during which he will attend the Australia-India Annual Leaders' Summit and hold bilateral discussions with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. He is also scheduled to participate in the "Melbourne Meets Modi" community programme, which is expected to draw a large gathering of members of the Indian diaspora.
Security preparations around the event have reportedly been intensified as authorities continue their investigation into the alleged online threat while ensuring the safety of visiting dignitaries and attendees.
