West Bengal CM Announces ₹2 Per Unit Power Subsidy for 4 Lakh Farmers

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced a power subsidy of ₹2 per unit for nearly four lakh farmers across the state during an administrative review meeting in East Burdwan. Farmers registered under the PM Kisan Scheme will receive an additional ₹9,000 as subsidy.
Adhikari stated that MLAs would act as guardians to farmers without middlemen. The state government will purchase paddy from farmers at ₹2,700 per quintal, and a separate support package for potato farmers would be announced before the December cultivation season. The Chief Minister also promised transparency measures, including auctioning sand quarries to fund public infrastructure development.
