Meta says it actioned 5.3 million child abuse content cases in India, 98% detected proactively

Meta claimed it has taken action against 5.3 million instances of child sexual abuse material in India, with more than 98 per cent detected proactively through its own systems.
The company stated it has introduced additional measures to strengthen its efforts against child sexual exploitation across its platforms. The disclosure follows government pressure on Meta to assume greater responsibility for child sexual abuse content rather than relying solely on intermediary protections.
Meta had previously acknowledged lapses in its handling of child sexual abuse material on its platforms.
