Bengaluru man arrested in secret wife's death; poisoning suspected

Police in Bengaluru's Byadarahalli area have arrested Chandan (also known as Chandrashekhar) in connection with the death of 22-year-old Bhavani S. The woman was found dead in suspicious circumstances at her rented residence in Tulsi Nagar, with initial investigation suggesting foul play.

Bhavani, a BSc graduate working at a mobile phone showroom in Tiglarpally, and Chandan had been in a relationship for several years. Investigation revealed they secretly married about a year ago without family knowledge. Chandan was already married with a six-year-old child from his first marriage.

Bhavani's family discovered her death after seeing an Instagram post featuring Chandan on the morning of June 13, 2026. When her father could not reach her by phone, he contacted the landlord who found her dead while Chandan was unconscious nearby, having allegedly consumed poison. Chandan was hospitalized and recovered. Bhavani's family had recently begun arranging her engagement to another person.
