Hundreds Protest Bengaluru Parks Bill at Lalbagh

Hundreds of residents staged a protest at Bengaluru's Lalbagh against a proposed parks bill that would permit the state government to alienate park land through sale, lease, gift, exchange, mortgage, or other means.

The bill sets an absolute limit of five per cent of the total park area in the city that can be alienated under these provisions. Protesters argue the measure threatens green spaces in the rapidly urbanising city.
