Bihar adds 1.4 million voters to electoral roll in one year

Bihar's electoral roll has grown significantly, with 1.4 million new voter names added over the past year. The latest roll, updated as of October 1, now contains 75.5 million registered voters, compared to 74.1 million recorded in September 2025.
The addition reflects the state's ongoing voter registration drive and demographic changes. Electoral roll updates typically occur through regular special summary revisions (SIR) and continuous enrollment processes managed by election authorities.
Bihar, India's third-most populous state, conducts periodic updates to maintain accurate voter databases ahead of elections and for general governance purposes. The expansion indicates active voter participation in the electoral process.
