BRICS opposes EU carbon border tax as unfair trade measure

BRICS countries have united in opposing the European Union's carbon border adjustment mechanism, calling it an unfair unilateral trade measure. The alliance stressed the importance of balancing energy security with climate objectives, asserting that fossil fuels must remain part of the global energy portfolio.
The bloc emphasized that climate action should be driven by principles of equity and shared responsibility among nations. BRICS expressed confidence in multilateral approaches to addressing global climate challenges rather than unilateral measures imposed by individual regions or blocs.
