CAG flags data discrepancies in Gujarat's Har Ghar Jal claim

The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has flagged data discrepancies in Gujarat's assertion of achieving universal functional household tap connection coverage under the Har Ghar Jal scheme. The state had claimed 100% coverage of 91.18 lakh rural households by October 2022.
The CAG's findings suggest inconsistencies between the reported figures and ground-level implementation, raising concerns about the accuracy of the state's progress reporting on the central government's flagship rural water supply programme.
