CJI Surya Kant Takes Stern Note of Missing Case File in Supreme Court Registry

Chief Justice of India Surya Kant on Wednesday took serious cognizance of a complaint that an important case file went missing from the Supreme Court registry, preventing a petition from being listed for hearing.
During a bench hearing with Justice V. Mohan, an advocate informed the CJI that a special leave petition filed on June 8 had not been registered in the registry despite repeated written requests to the registrar. The advocate submitted that the case file appears to have been lost, preventing the matter from being placed before the court.
CJI Surya Kant stated he would personally examine the matter, calling it a serious issue if critical files are disappearing from the registry. He sought complete details and indicated he would take action beyond simply listing the petition for hearing.
