19-Year-Old College Student Killed After Pickup Crane Runs Over Her in Ahmedabad

A 19-year-old college student, Prerna Neenama, was killed in a fatal accident in Ahmedabad's Gota area on Tuesday morning. The first-year BSc student at Silver Oak University was walking to college around 11:55 am when a pickup crane approached from behind, hit her, and ran over her body. She died at the spot. CCTV footage captured the incident.

The crane driver, identified as Arun Nishad, fled the scene immediately after the accident. Local residents traced and located him in the nearby Sola area, and police arrested him in connection with the case. The vehicle bears registration number GJ 01 RQ 2685.

Local residents have raised concerns about pedestrian safety on the stretch, noting the absence of a proper footpath forces pedestrians to walk alongside moving traffic.
