Congress pitches cultural, development agenda in coastal Karnataka

Karnataka's Congress government is making a political and developmental push in the coastal regions, traditionally a BJP electoral stronghold. Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has announced initiatives including efforts toward official status for the Tulu language and actions related to temple land management.
The move signals an attempt by the Congress to strengthen its presence in areas where the BJP has historically maintained significant support. The coastal belt, encompassing districts like Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, remains politically contested despite BJP dominance.
