Congress poised for Upper House majority in Karnataka Council polls

The Congress party is positioned to secure a majority in the Karnataka Legislative Council following the upcoming polls. The party currently has 37 members in the 75-member Upper House and requires just four additional seats to cross the majority threshold.
Congress is contesting five seats in the election. Securing victories in four of these would give the party the required numbers for a majority. If the party wins all five contested seats, its strength in the Council would rise to 39 members.
