CSIR-CCMB develops India-specific tool to predict Sickle Cell severity

Scientists at CSIR-CCMB have developed an India-specific diagnostic tool to predict the severity of sickle cell anemia (SCA) in Indian patients. The new tool addresses a critical gap, as existing international scoring systems do not accurately reflect the clinical profile of Indian patients with the disease.
The development could significantly improve treatment decisions and overall disease management for patients in India, offering more tailored and effective clinical approaches based on India's unique patient population characteristics.
