Monsoon rains expected over South Peninsula as Bay of Bengal warms

The India Meteorological Department expects isolated heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal for six days beginning Wednesday. Kerala and Mahe are likely to receive isolated heavy rain over a three-day period starting Saturday.

The forecast comes as the Bay of Bengal warms, potentially marking one of the final spells of the monsoon season for the southern peninsula.
