India's net direct tax collections rise 13.21% to Rs 13.38 lakh crore till October 14 of FY27

India's net direct tax collections grew 13.21% year-on-year to Rs 13.38 lakh crore as of October 14 in fiscal year 2026-27. Gross collections increased at a faster pace of 14.89%, reaching Rs 16.03 lakh crore during the same period.
Refunds issued to taxpayers surged 24.22% to Rs 2.65 lakh crore, indicating higher volumes of tax returns being processed. Net corporate tax, non-corporate tax, and Securities Transaction Tax all registered increases, reflecting broad-based growth across multiple tax categories.
The figures suggest strong revenue mobilisation in the early months of the financial year, though the higher refund growth rate may impact net collections as the year progresses.
