DK Shivakumar Confirms June 3 Oath As Karnataka CM As Congress Finalises Leadership Transition

DK Shivakumar has officially confirmed that the swearing-in ceremony for Karnataka’s new Chief Minister will be held on June 3, ending weeks of political speculation over the state’s leadership transition. Speaking to reporters, he stated that the oath-taking event is scheduled for June 3, signaling a major shift in the state’s political landscape.
Earlier developments within the Karnataka Congress indicated that preparations for the ceremony are already underway, with the venue expected to be the Glass House at Lok Bhavan in Bengaluru. Party insiders suggest that final arrangements are being fine-tuned, while the leadership transition process moves into its concluding stage.
The decision comes as Shivakumar participates in the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting at Vidhana Soudha, where he is expected to be formally chosen as the leader of the legislative party. Following this, he is likely to meet the Governor to formally stake claim to form the new government in the state.
Senior Congress leaders, including AICC Karnataka in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala, Leader of the House in the Legislative Council N S Boseraju, and other party office-bearers, are attending the crucial meeting, which will finalise the leadership structure and government formation strategy.
Reports also suggest that along with the Chief Minister, the new cabinet may include one or more deputy chief ministers, with representation likely to reflect social and regional balance within the party.
