DK Shivakumar Praises Siddaramaiah’s Legacy After Exit, Says ‘His Journey Inspires Karnataka’

A day after stepping down as Karnataka Chief Minister, senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah received an emotional public tribute from his deputy and likely successor DK Shivakumar, who described the veteran politician’s life journey as a symbol of resilience and social justice.
In a lengthy message shared on X, Shivakumar praised Siddaramaiah’s rise from a small village in Mysuru district to the top political office in Karnataka, calling it an inspiring example of perseverance and dedication to public service.
“God does not give boons or curses. He only gives opportunities. What truly matters is what we make of those opportunities,” Shivakumar wrote, adding that Siddaramaiah’s political career reflected determination, struggle and commitment to people-centric governance.
The Congress leader expressed gratitude for Siddaramaiah’s years in public life and acknowledged his contribution towards welfare schemes and developmental programmes implemented during his tenure as Chief Minister.
Shivakumar also highlighted their political partnership over the last few years, stating that Siddaramaiah had stood firmly beside him ever since he assumed charge as Karnataka Congress president in 2020.
“It has been a privilege to serve alongside him as Deputy Chief Minister and to continuously learn from his experience, wisdom and political foresight,” Shivakumar said in his message.
The statement comes amid rapid political developments in Karnataka following Siddaramaiah’s resignation, which has effectively cleared the path for Shivakumar to emerge as the frontrunner for the Chief Minister’s post.
Political observers see Shivakumar’s message not only as a personal tribute but also as an attempt to project unity within the Congress during the ongoing leadership transition in the state.
Shivakumar further said he hoped Siddaramaiah’s guidance would continue to strengthen the party and inspire leaders working for Karnataka’s development and welfare.
“I look forward to carrying this journey forward together for the people of Karnataka,” he added.
