Election Commission recognises Vijay's TVK as registered political party

The Election Commission of India has formally recognised Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), the political party launched by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin's rival Vijay, as a registered political party. The party has been allotted the 'whistle' as its electoral symbol.
Vijay, a prominent film actor, founded TVK two years ago in 2024 with 'secular social justice' as its core ideological foundation. Following the EC's recognition, Vijay expressed gratitude to the people for their support in establishing the party.
