Egypt Hold Belgium to 1-1 Draw in FIFA World Cup 2026 Group G Opener

Egypt and Belgium played out a 1-1 draw in a Group G match of the FIFA World Cup 2026 at CenturyLink Field in Seattle. Emam Ashour of Al Ahly scored his first international goal in the first half after receiving a pass from Mohamed Salah on his 34th birthday, giving Egypt a deserved lead.

Belgium equalised early in the second half when Romelu Lukaku, introduced from the bench, created panic in Egypt's defence. Defender Mohamed Hany deflected a Meunier cross into his own goal just 20 seconds after Lukaku's entry. Egypt pressed for a winner but could not find the breakthrough.
