EU sends landmark India trade deal to member states for signature

The European Commission has requested EU member states to approve signing and concluding a landmark Free Trade Agreement with India. The deal would eliminate or reduce tariffs on 96% of EU goods exports, with an estimated annual saving of €4 billion for exporters.
Once cleared by the EU Council, the pact requires approval from the European Parliament and ratification by India before it can take effect. The agreement represents a significant step in deepening trade ties between the two economic blocs.
