Pakistan Captain Fatima Sana Signs With Birmingham Phoenix in The Hundred

Pakistan captain Fatima Sana has signed with Birmingham Phoenix in The Hundred, becoming the first Pakistani woman to secure a contract in the tournament. The all-rounder earned the wildcard deal following her impressive all-round display against South Africa in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026.
Fatima scored an unbeaten 55 off 38 balls and took 3 wickets for 16 runs against South Africa, nearly helping Pakistan defend a target of 127 despite a narrow two-wicket defeat. The 24-year-old replaces Australia's Lucy Hamilton, who withdrew due to workload management. Birmingham Phoenix Performance Director James Thomas praised Fatima as an international-class pace bowler.
Fatima is the third Pakistani player selected for The Hundred this season, joining Usman Tariq and Abrar Ahmed. Her participation may be affected by Pakistan's scheduled tour of Sri Lanka from July 23 to August 4.
