FBI Removes Accenture Contractor Over Oracle PeopleSoft Data Breach

The FBI has removed an Accenture contractor following a significant data breach that exposed personal information of thousands of bureau employees. FBI cyber chief Brett Leatherman stated the breach resulted from a failure to apply a security patch to a third-party-managed platform.
The affected system was identified as Oracle's PeopleSoft, a human resources platform managed by Accenture. Hacking group ShinyHunters claimed responsibility for exploiting the platform to access the FBI's job site. The FBI has taken steps to mitigate further risk and protect its workforce.
Neither Oracle nor Accenture initially provided detailed comments. Accenture stated its commitment to supporting the FBI's mission, while the specific contractor involved and their employment status remain unconfirmed.
