Gujarat CID probes shell political parties over ₹700 crore tax evasion

Gujarat's Criminal Investigation Department has filed cases against multiple political parties accused of operating as shell entities. The Satyawadi Rakshak Party is the latest target, following earlier FIRs against the Bharatiya National Janata Dal, Swatantrata Abhivyakti Party, and Garib Kalyan Party.
Investigations allege these parties collected 10% commissions on transactions while evading over ₹700 crore in taxes. The probe suggests these entities functioned primarily as fronts for financial operations rather than genuine political organizations.
The cases mark a significant crackdown on what authorities describe as fraudulent use of political party registration for tax evasion schemes.
