Gujarat launches sports genomics programme alongside tribal genome project

Gujarat is launching a dedicated sports genomics programme that will operate alongside its existing tribal genome project. The tribal initiative has already sequenced 100 whole genomes and continues to expand.

The dual approach aims to leverage genomic research for two distinct purposes: enhancing athlete performance through genetic insights and advancing health understanding among tribal populations. Both programmes will run concurrently within the state's broader genomics infrastructure.
