Houthis intensify attacks on Saudi Arabia amid broader Middle East tensions

Iran-backed Houthi forces launched a series of missile and drone attacks against Saudi Arabia, striking multiple locations in the kingdom's southern region, including energy installations, Abha International Airport, and King Khalid air base. The attacks resulted in at least 73 injuries and caused fires and temporary disruptions at some energy facilities. The Houthis claimed responsibility, stating they targeted Saudi military and economic infrastructure, including facilities linked to Saudi Aramco.
Saudi authorities vowed to take necessary measures to defend its sovereignty and counter the threat posed by the Iran-backed militia. The escalation comes as the United States and Iran face heightened tensions around the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, creating a complex regional security environment.
Analysts warn that the Middle East is transitioning from isolated conflicts to an interconnected battlefield, with the Houthi-Saudi confrontation unfolding alongside broader US-Iran tensions, raising concerns about potential wider regional conflict.
