ICAR-CIBA develops deboning technology to boost milkfish consumption

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research's Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture (ICAR-CIBA) has developed a deboning technology for milkfish to enhance its appeal among consumers. According to M. Kailasam, Director of ICAR-CIBA, removing fine intermuscular bones from the fish would make it more acceptable to the public and encourage wider consumption.
The technology is designed to address a key consumer concern that has limited milkfish's market penetration. By simplifying preparation and improving eating experience, the institute aims to popularise this aquaculture product across India.
