India and ASEAN to review trade agreement in January 2027

India and ASEAN have scheduled the next review meeting of their bilateral goods trade agreement for January 2027. Both sides are working to accelerate negotiations aimed at modernizing the 2009 pact.
The joint committee overseeing the agreement has directed sub-groups to finalize outstanding chapters and establish firm timelines for completion. ASEAN represents approximately 11% of India's total global trade, underscoring the commercial significance of the partnership.
The move reflects efforts by both sides to strengthen economic ties through an updated framework that better reflects current trade dynamics and regional priorities.
