UPI charges to be 0.4% for payments above Rs 2,000; consumers remain exempt

The Unified Payments Interface will impose a 0.4% charge on select transactions exceeding Rs 2,000, according to recent policy updates. However, individual consumers will not bear these charges.
The fee structure aims to generate revenue from higher-value transactions while protecting retail users from direct costs. Payment processors and merchants may be affected by the new levies.
