India bears $45 million in interest payments on Maldives T-bill facility

India has borne nearly $45 million in interest payments on a treasury bill facility extended to the Maldives, according to the Ministry of External Affairs. The treasury bills were subscribed by the State Bank of India starting in 2019 and have been extended six times, each extension lasting one year.
The facility represents India's financial support to the island nation, underscoring bilateral economic ties between the two countries.
