India flags urgent need for UN Security Council reform amid global conflicts

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar emphasized the need for urgent reform of the United Nations Security Council, citing its inability to effectively address ongoing global conflicts. Jaishankar made the remarks while co-chairing the L.69 Consultative Ministerial Interaction on UNSC reform, a forum focused on restructuring the 79-year-old institution.
India has long advocated for expanding the Security Council's permanent membership to reflect current geopolitical realities and enhance its effectiveness in handling international crises.
