India and Canada target trade pact by end-2026 amid improving ties

India and Canada are working towards finalising a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) by the end of 2026. The push comes as both nations seek to rebuild economic ties following a period of strained diplomatic relations.
A CEPA would cover goods, services, investment and other trade areas, deepening economic cooperation between the two countries. Both governments view the agreement as a way to enhance bilateral commerce and create stronger institutional frameworks for trade.
