India upgrades to A- rating after 35 years, enters elite credit club
Japan Credit Rating Agency (JCRA) has upgraded India's sovereign credit rating to A- from BBB+, restoring an A-category rating for the country after more than 35 years. The upgrade follows recent rating increases by Morningstar DBRS, R&I and S&P Global Ratings.
The upgrade reflects India's strong economic growth trajectory, improving fiscal position, and a strengthened banking system. The rating agency also cited digital infrastructure development and low external vulnerability as key supporting factors for the decision.
